STB2210

Question

Hi folks.

I recently purchased a STB2210, it sits side by side with my S2209W. They're both connected to my XFX Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512 GB DDR3.

I never had this trouble with the S2209W set as the primary, this is specific to the STB2210.

In some situations, especially on black backgrounds, I get a halo around color where it meets the black. This is most obvious in the Windows logo when the computer first boots, but I see it sporadically in games too. The image attached is a simulation of what I've been seeing. There shouldn't be such a hard edge around the color, it should mesh better into the blacks.

Any thoughts or help on this one? Much appreciated.

Did you swap the monitors on the video card DVI ports to see if the issue appears on both DVI?

I just tried it on the HDMI port, and it seems as bad or worse.

I tried using the NVIDIA control panel to adjust the brightness and gamma, and that helps after Windows loads, but if I launch an application that overrides the NVIDIA settings, like Photoshop or Star Trek Online, they reset the settings back and the contrast seems way up. If I go into the Color Profiles of the control panel and do a custom adjustment, I only have to turn the gamma slider all the way down to get a good image. But again if I launch an application that overrides the profile I get a very high contrast again, and a washed out image with halos.

I guess you could contact support and get a monitor exchange. See if the replacement has the same issue, if yes, then you will know it is just the monitor line.
