To ChrisM 2007WFP A03?
Hi there chris, i wish to know from DELL via an official type statement regarding the revision changes made to the 2007wfp A03 vs A02. We already see a soft dither option in the hidden menu on the A03, what does this do? and other changes listed would help me sleep better at night.
It's becoming a hot topic with people wanting to buy and im sure many people are interested in finding this information out. :)
Thanks, hope its not a hard task to find out :D

I have pressed Product Group on questions like this. As of today, we will not issue any official type statement regarding the revision changes. Our stance is that the "what" and "why" information will not be disclosed. This also applies to what panels are installed. Our point of view is a 2407 is a 2407, regardless of the panel. Bottomline, if any user has issues with the Desktop mode, they have the option to initiate an exchange.

I just ordered myself the 2407, but your comment is kind of scary. Bottomline is 2 of 3 modes is flawed on the monitor and you're basically telling us tuff? I expect better from the leading PC manufacturer.

You would think so.
Arch,
I thought your question was about 2007 A03 not 2407's :)
Different model, I better re measure mine, YEP, still 4 inches diagonally larger :)

What Dell fails to realize is that the "few disgruntled enthusiasts" are the same people who suggest specific pieces of hardware to thousands of clients, family, friends and co-workers who are all "blissfully unaware". Of course they probably do know this (why else would they attempt to "code" the panel type in A03?)but sales are strong enough to not matter. To be fair though some other makers either do this also...or leave it open as an option by having a a policy of not disclosing the exact panel type/model to end users. Educated consumers can either translate into skyrocketing sales or a tarnished company name....I guess Dell is arrogant enough to believe they can cut corners for increased profits and the public will forgive and forget as long as the "coupons" keep flowing..
