U2410, not powering on issue, #2
I recently bought a secondhand U2410 and I have found that it has an intermittent power issue - it does not power on after a reboot. The power button does not turn the monitor back on (but the power button still 'clicks'). I saw saw this and it seems to help. My questions are -
* Is this a common fault?
* How do I check if the monitor is under warranty? I'm located in Australia.

Thanks Babita, I'll see if I can track it down. Otherwise, is it a common fault?

Hi,
Welcome to Dell Community Forum.
In case of person to person Dell Monitor Purchases, if the monitor fails within the 3-year period from the Invoice date on the original purchaser's order, then the current owner has to call Dell with the original owner's information so that we can look up the Order Number and check if the monitor is still in warranty.
If the monitor is in warranty, we would use the Order information provided to set up the monitor exchange however, the Ship-to address may be changed to that of the current owner.
The onus is on the current owner to verify that the original owner provides all of the information needed by Dell to verify the warranty, If the current owner cannot provide the original owner's information, then no exchanges can be setup for any monitor replacement.
Please reply if you have any further questions.
Thanks and regards,
Babita S

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
The issue you are facing could be due to several reasons and further troubleshooting has to be done to determine the exact Point of Failure.
Disconnect the cables connecting to your monitor, connect only the power cable and turn the monitor on and off. Do you still face the same issue? You will get a Self-Test Feature Check screen with a box of colours in case the monitor is fine.
Check that the cables are secure in place and not loosely connected. Try a different monitor with your system, if possible, to understand if the problem is with the monitor or the video-capability of the computer. Also, try a different VGA cable to see if the problem could be with the cable.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks and regards,

I'm certain it's not the video card - I was using the same card with a pair of Dell 2209WA previous to this using the same power and DVI cables. I've checked and ensured that nothing has come loose during the monitor changeover.

It did it again today - seems it happens when I turn the computer off with the monitor on, if I power the monitor off first then it works fine. Managed to power it back on with the URL I linked to in the first post - without the DVI cable, it has the box of colours so the monitor is fine once it's powered up.

Hi,
Do you have the original cable supplied with the monitor?
You need to get a MDP to DP adapter (mini-display to full display port) then use the standard DP to DP cable that came with the monitor.
Please let me know if the above helps resolve the issue.
Thanks and regards,

I don't have the original cables.
My video card doesn't support DP, only DVI. I did find a DVI to HDMI adaptor and used the HDMI input instead. I'll see how it goes when I get home tonight.
I'm assuming that he has something to do with a signal being sent with the DVD input.

Update - still no good via HDMI. I will try a DVI to Display Port adaptor.

Hi,
Please contact me privately, by clicking on my name in blue and selecting the email icon or Start a Conversation, and providing the Monitor Serial Number which is the 20-digit PPID Serial number on the label to verify the manufacture date. This number may be located on the back of the monitor, probably on the left-rear end.
Thanks and regards,

Update - the monitor now will not power on at all, even with no input plugged in, so it's definitely a monitor hardware fault. :(
Is there any possibility of checking for warranty status without an order number?
