U2412M DP to HDMI?

I have the same problem. Your suggestion may not work, as I purchased a similar adapter. My Laptop has an HDMI out connector, but my new Dell U2412 monitor has a Displayport in connector. How to connect my Laptop HDMI to this Display port. The item I have purchased does not work. Probably it will work if my Laptop has a Displayport output and my monitor has only a HDMI in connection. Please reply.

It sounds like you bought the cable that would work from a laptop DP to monitor HDMI. You have the opposite setup, so you need the active converter to translate the computer HDMI signal into a format readable by the monitor DP.

It would be cheaper to use a laptop HDMI to monitor DVI cable.
