U2413, Optiplex 710, video card
Trying to find out what kind of video card I need to use (if any) with a U2413 and an Optiplex 710, i5, 8GB Ram, (Win7 Pro) and I will be using a two monitor setup (second monitor = 5-6 yr old VGA Dell). My needs are limited to digital still photography editing (Paint Shop Pro & GIMP) - this is a hobby, not a profession. Some people have told me I don't need anything more than what the "mother board" offers and others have recommended video cards from $75 - $500. I am on a budget. Knowledgeable recommendations would be appreciated. I bought the U2413 new and the Optiplex 710 used (haven't even received shipment yet).

An U2413 needs one of the folowing:
-1 DVI single link video output
-1 HDMI video output
-1 DisplayPort/Mini DisplayPort video output
plus:
-1 free USB port for calibration upload and card reader
As long as your computer has those requirements, it will work. But keep in mind that a wide gamut monitor like yours without a good measurement device is useless. Get an i1DisplayPro colorimeter as soon as you can.
If you plan to use some kind of graphics card LUT calibration as an addition to monitor's internal hardware calibration or for using to its full extent "Custom color" mode, it's HIGHLY recommended an AMD/ATI or Nvidia Quadro graphics card in order to prevent banding artifacts after calibration. Cheap ones will do it properly.
If you need to use Adobe Photoshop 30bit (10bit/channel) feature with Windows, then you need an AMD Firepro or Nvidia Quadro video card. Cheap ones will do it properly.
More expensive GPUs will give you more computing power... if you need it.
