That was a 10 year old thread, started your own thread.

The old FTP site has been pulled so I cannot verify that old user post statement. The online U2414H User's Guide PDF dated April 2019 shows that there is no auto source input =

Believe me or not, but the issue is missing feature, not documentation.

That is why when user was confused why is such basic stuff is not working and if he is not doing something right, suggestion to look for new version of manual where it's not mentioned is hilarious.

I didn't need this feature for years and when setting up new workspace, discovering that you have to manually change source every time is annoying at best.

Doubt there was such information provided on the point of sale, how would I trust information provided for any other monitors if user left to discover what is supported or not.

It’s very weird, as the more basic p2314 has auto input.

Maybe one of the front button shortcuts can be used an input selection.

It's really no big deal as most of users just setup their monitor only once in its lifetime.  If an extra push on a button to select input source when setup the monitor can be such an important factor affecting the mentality, OP should probably never use a computer as it requires a push of power button every time to start the machine and many more of similar motions during a computer usages.

Thank you, this is very helpful information. Automatic source detection is such a basic feature that was even present in cheap noname monitor that I was once given for free and were using for diy. And this Dell model was not cheap budget option back in the days.

You should probably have a mobile that instead of automatically detecting when it's close to user face and disabling touchscreen, you require to press a button.

People who are happy to loose any features or downgrade there experience as they are tough enough to withstand this, should probably be banned from internet and use local town square to announce their opinion.

There was no disagreement about the missing feature that should has been included on this expensive Ultrasharp class monitor.  What I commented on was about the important of such feature to you.  After many years of owning the monitor and you just discovered it was missing, a feature that you didn't need for years, yet it's a problem and is significant enough for you to create an account and state your reason for not buying another Dell monitor.

You are free to voice your opinion as am as well free to state mine, it's really no big deal.  It would be important if the monitor lose a function without that feature.  It's only an added convenient.  Without that feature, you would have to reach out and push the input select once at initial setup.  I did say most of users, because it would still be a minor inconvenient for techs whom using it on a test bench with frequent changes of different output devices.  But, it's no big deal as just an extra button push after several cable connections and buttons to push.
