U2518D, two, different color temperatures

Hello,

I have two U2518D side by side. I did reset all settings to factory on both. The only difference is the firmware, one is running M2T103, the other one M2T104.

There is a visual difference between them in color. The one running M2T104 seems to be "warmer". The difference so visible enough so that using both is not possible.

What caused the difference in color temperature? Firmware? Is this possible to change the color temperature from one to match the other? Again, all settings are 100% identical on both.

Thanks in advance.

Hello.

I ran the built-in diagnostics tool (I disconnected all cables and pressed button 1 for 5 seconds to display the patterns). All the colors (red, green, blue) where Identical to my eye. Only grey and white differ visibly. Here is a picture. The one on the right is the one with the newer firmware.

Hello,

unfortunately no. No solution yet. I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and say we don't know yet whether or not this is caused by the firmware update. But if it is, DELL should provide a solution:

1) Allow us to downgrade to M2T103
2) Provide M2T104/5 so we can update.

As of right now (if it is caused by the firmware mind you) there's nothing we can do I'm afraid. The difference is very noticable and makes working for me impossible. I have the option to just send the new monitor back and by somewhere else, but chances are that most monitors will come with the newer firmware. So what should be done?

Update: A TechExpert just confirmed to me that this is caused by the firmware.

Did you manage to fix this? I have the same problem excepting that I have M2T105 instead of M2T104 on the faulty monitor.

It seems there is a way to downgrade. https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/U2518D-downgraded-from-M2T105-to-M2T103/td-p/7538534

But I'm not sure if this would fix the problem.

Thank you for sharing the info!

So I just downgraded to 103. Unfortunately it did NOT fix the issue. Still the same difference in color temperature.

Any other suggestions?
