U2713H - USB 3 hub doesn't work

Question

I've had this monitor for a year or so, but never tried using USB3 before until now.

When I plug the upstream/downstream link cable from the monitor into a USB2 port on my pc, everything works fine - the usb ports and the card reader on the side of the monitor all work fine. I also get the expected Windows message saying that if I plug the cable into a USB 3 port instead then everything will work faster.

However, when I plug the upstream/downstream cable into and USB 3 port on my computer, the drivers say they have installed ok. However neither the card reader or usb 3 ports on the side of the monitor do anything. They just are dead.

I know the USB 3 port on the computer works just fine, I've tested that independently.

So clearly this is a monitor problem - anybody got any suggestions for a fix?

You could get an exchange, but it would be refurbished/used and might have the same side USB issue. Your call.

Did you test the U2713H bottom USB ports when the upstream cable was plugged into the computer USB 3.0 port?

Didn't know there were usb ports there... but I've just tested them and yes they work (with upstream cable connected to PC's usb 3 port).

If it was me, I would not get an exchange. I would simply use the bottom ports for USB 3.0 devices.

So I have a faulty product that's still under warranty, and you think I should just put up with it?  Why would I do that?

I am simply telling you the options, keep it or get a used/refurbished exchange. If the replacement does not have 3.0 working, get another exchange.
