U2713HM maximum resolution and auto-adjust issues
I am trying to set up some new U2713HM monitors on two Optiplex 9020 machines running both Windows and Ubuntu and am encountering some issues:
- The maximum resolution can apparently only be achieved using a Display Port cable which was *not* included with the screen. The Dual Link DVI-D cable is completely useless as the maximum resolution it allows is 1920x1080. The only information that was available on the manual and CD that came with the monitor suggested updating drivers (which were up to date already), and mentioned nothing about needing a different cable.
- The most aggravating issue: using the VGA cable (which at least allows a better resolution than DVI), if the computer is booted in Windows it will flash an "auto-adjustment in progress" message once and then get stuck on a blank screen. This happens both when starting cold or when rebooting, and doesn't seem to be solved by resetting the monitor to factory settings. The issue is not present if the computer is booted in Ubuntu. It also does not appear to be an issue with the specific computer, VGA cable or monitor as I have several of each at hand and tried them all with the same result.
Does anybody have a solution for the second issue? I do not have a Display Port screen at the moment and would like to make use of the better resolution in the meantime. Or if anybody knows how to set the maximum resolution using the DVI cable (if at all possible), that would also be helpful.
Thanks.
