U2722DE, OSD Menu item USB, need clarification
My U2722DE monitors have an item on the OSD menu called USB:
Then in the manual I can read as follows: Allows you to set the USB upstream port for the DP input signals, thus the monitor’s USB downstream port (For example, keyboard and mouse) can be used by the current input signals when you connect a computer to either one of the upstream ports. When you use only one upstream port, the connected upstream port is active.
I am afraid I am just not able to understand what this means and what will the different selections under this menu do to the monitor's functionality. And what are USB-C1 and USB-C2 (the two available values in the corresponding sub-menus) in this context?
Can someone please help me understand this?

If using USB-C from PC to U2722DE #5 USB-C (Video + USB Data), you do NOT need the extra USB-C to USB-A cable.
If using DP or HDMI from a PC for video, they do not enable the U2722DE USB-A #8/#10/#11/#13, USB-C #14 downstream ports. To enable them, you have to also connect =
U2722DE #7 USB-C upstream port (USB Data only) --> USB-C to USB-A cable --> PC USB-A port
The USB-C 1 90W are simply meaning that because you are using DP or HDMI from a PC for video, you must use the USB-C upstream for the USB downstream.

Thanks a lot, Chris! All of that is quite clear, even without looking at the menu.
It's the menu options that are confusing me. I am still not understanding what it means (and what it does to the functionality) when on this menu I, for example, set DP Assign to to USB-C1 90W and what changes in the functionality if I set it to USB-C2 instead. And what exactly is USB-C2? Does it refer to 7 or 14 or something else?

Agreed it is confusing.
USB-C 1 = #5 USB-C (Video + USB Data)
USB-C 2 = #7 USB-C upstream port (USB Data only)
Bottom line, if you using PC video out ports HDMI or DP, plug the provided USB-C to USB-A cable into #7 USB-Upstream port.
If you are using DP, then you select the USB/DP.
If you use using HDMI, then you select USB/HDMI.

Thanks again, Chris! I in fact do not use (or need) any of the downstream USB ports. Also, to complicate it further, I'm using two of these monitors connected to my PC (both with DP) and to my Mac Mini M2 Pro (one with the USB C and the other with HDMI). I guess in case I ever wanted to use the downstream USB ports - if I got you right - it would look like this:
Monitor 1 - PC with DP, Mac with USB C:
Monitor 2 - PC with DP, Mac with HDMI:
I still don't understand what difference it makes if I chose DP Assign to to USB-C1 90W as opposed to USB-C2 or, what difference it makes if I chose HDMI Assign to to USB-C1 90W as opposed to USB-C2, in either of the above cases.
