U2724DE, KVM peripherals disconnecting when switching from Windows to Mac

Hi there - I would appreciate some support from the official Dell team as I've spent about 4 hours troubleshooting a my brand new monitor to no avail. 

My U2724DE is connected to both my M1 Mac Laptop via Thunderbolt 4 and to my Windows Desktop machine via DisplayPort with a downstream USB-A connection for the peripherals. I have my USB mouse and keyboard plugged into the monitor via USB-A. I have double, triple and quadruple-checked that the configuration is exactly as per the online manual with regard to KVM setup.

The problem: 

1. Set up KVM as per on-screen wizard on Dell display. Mouse and keyboard function OK on Mac.
2. Switch source to Windows machine (DisplayPort). Mouse and keyboard function OK on Windows. 
3. Switch source BACK to Mac. Mouse and Keyboard no longer respond without either restarting the computer or unplugging and replugging Thunderbolt cable.

Obviously this behaviour is not seamless in the slightest, which leads me to believe that there is some kind of oversight or issue on my end. 

I would extremely appreciate it if a support team member for Dell could get back to me on whether this is a KNOWN issue, and if not some suggestions on what I might do to resolve this. I really like the monitor and really would prefer not to have to return it.
