U2913WM, MacBook Pro, not responding

@jbmprod26  Given that the 2018 15” MBP only has 4 USB-C/TB3 ports, can you clarify the exact cables, adapters, etc. you tried to use? It might be relevant to why you’re having trouble. Given that the U2913WM has a DisplayPort input, the simplest method would be a USB-C to DisplayPort cable since USB-C ports use DisplayPort for video output anyway. HDMI/DVI and VGA cables/adapters need to incorporate active signal converter chips, which introduce complexity and therefore potential issues. But if you go that route, make sure you connect the DP connector to the display‘s DP input, not its DP output.

@jbmprod26  Happy to help!  Ok, so it looks like you've got an Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, and then an HDMI to DVI cable?  I assume those first two photos are two different ends of the same cable?  If so, I would have expected that setup to work.  But I also know that there's a Dell system that has an HDMI output that doesn't work when used with an HDMI to DVI adapter or cable.  I'm not sure why, and I'm not even sure how it's possible that it doesn't work since up to 1920x1080 resolution, HDMI and DVI are supposedly identical even at an electrical level.  But for some reason it doesn't work on that system, so there may be something similar going on in your case here.  However, just typing all that made me realize something.  The U2913WM has a resolution of 2560x1080.  The only way to run that resolution into a DVI input is by using dual link DVI.  The U2913WM supports that (I just checked its manual), but an HDMI source output wouldn't.  So even if you were able to get an image on the display using that HDMI to DVI cable, you wouldn't be able to run the display at its full resolution that way.  You'd probably be limited to 1920x1080.

So I'd suggest that you do one of these things:

• If you have a basic HDMI cable, i.e. a cable with an HDMI connector on each end as opposed to the HDMI to DVI cable you appear to have, try that instead.  Using a regular HDMI connection will allow 2560x1080 as long as you use an HDMI cable made in the last decade or so.  There are some ancient HDMI cables that would only run 1920x1080, but it's unlikely you'd have any of those around.
• If even that doesn't work, consider that USB-C to DisplayPort cable I mentioned.  If you're in the US, here is an Amazon link to a suitable option.  Otherwise, you should be able to find that kind of cable somewhere else without much difficulty.  And again, if you do this, make sure you plug the DisplayPort end into the DisplayPort input on the display, not its output.

And either way, obviously remember to set the display to the correct input based on the connector you're plugging into.
