U2913WM USB issues

I have the USB upstream cable attached to the motherboard's USB 3.0 port. (Have tried both of them). I can plug USB 2.0 devices into any port on the monitor & they work flawlessly but when I plug in a USB 3.0 device they aren't recognised by the OS. I have tried 2x USB3.0 flash drives and none of them work, but they work when attached to the motherboard. My little Seagate portable drive will not work either unless (and this is the good part) I attach the upstream cable to a USB2.0 port. The only thing I can think of is that it's a driver issue as it shows up in Device Manager as "Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub" which I cannot change. OS is Win8.1 Pro x64 Thanks for any help Cheers Dave

I decided to see if there was any updates to the USB 3.0 driver on ASUS's website. There was a new file to download so I tried it & bingo, the hub is now working properly. Just found it weird that my external 3.0 hub worked fine but the monitor wouldn't. Anyways, seems all good now, thanks for your help, Dave

Dave,

Did you load this monitor driver? (DELL_U2913WM-MONITOR_A00-00_R3VC3.exe)

* Power off the computer and monitor
* Disconnect the monitor USB upstream cable from the computer and the monitor
* Power on the monitor, then the computer
* Open the Device Manager - Universal Serial Bus controllers
* Use the Snipping Tool to create/save a picture of what is listed there
* Reconnect the monitor USB upstream cable to the monitor, then to a blue USB 3.0 port on the computer
* Use the Snipping Tool to create/save a picture of what is listed there

Post both of those pictures so we can see what was added.

We do not have reports of USB issues on this specific model. You will need to contact Dell Technical Support for your country and have them setup a "like for like" monitor exchange. Once they issue the exchange, for my notes, provide to the following via private message:
U2913WM service tag number
20 digit serial PPID number
Dispatch Exchange number

Sorry to bring this up again but I've been mad busy and haven't had the time to play with the USB ports on the monitor. They're showing up as Generic USB hub in Device Manager, and they also give me a BSoD (Driver Power State Failure). unfortunately the BSoD is fairly intermittent. I still think this is a driver issue. Any ideas? I don't want to send it back & have to twiddle my thumbs with no PC.
