U3023E, true 10 bit panel or 8 bit+FRC?

Hi,

I'm curious about whether it has true 10 bit panel or 8 bit+FRC?

Thanks

The Dell U3023E monitor uses an 8-bit + FRC (Frame Rate Control) panel, which can produce a color depth equivalent to 10 bits. FRC is a technique used to simulate additional color shades by rapidly switching between two adjacent colors, creating the perception of a new intermediate color. This technique is commonly used in monitors to achieve a higher color depth than the native panel resolution.

While the Dell U3023E monitor may not have a true 10-bit panel, the use of FRC allows it to display a wide range of colors with a high degree of accuracy and precision. This makes it suitable for use in color-critical applications such as photo and video editing.

This is very brutal!

All the reviews say it has a 10-bit panel. I need it for work - you don't do business with lies!!! The fact that it uses FRC is a disaster for details, shadows, shades...

Finally, with a real 10 bit panel is it or 8bit + FRC? I'm into directing and distinguish between 10 and 8 bit color.

That is false and a proof that you do not know what you are talking about.

That's your software fault (compressing for video and/or color management rounding errors for both video or photo), not monitor bitdepth.
You can have a true 10bit SDR panel and still suffer from the second because it is not related to monitor (granted that at 8bit it shows no banding at native colorspace).
That's why I wrote you do not know what you are talking about, it was no offense, just an statement.

The monitor arrived. For me it's 8 bits. Very good black for IPS panel and ugly dynamic scenes...scratch...holds the frame...Apparently needs a software update. There are lighting issues in some scenes. The 8 bit edges stick out... Hopefully it's from the Intel graphics. I don't know if I'm satisfied yet.

It doesn't show all scenes - it's tied to HDMI. I hope it's not from the monitor.

Dell seriously need to work on the firmware because this is a complete misunderstanding... There is shimming, lag, uneven sublight, artifacts, frame drops, this is not 5ms. monitor, here it works like 50ms and more... this is a very cheap panel from Samsung, which is sdr and is many times worse than 8bit. monitor at half price. I am now considering how to get my money back as it was bought from an online retailer. In this condition, this Samsung is a complete hack! Thanks Dell!

More problems! Big black shadow while moving in video... Fix your problems! This display gives me a headache, it also strains my eyes. Nothing listed in the ads works!
