U3417W, does DP in support HDMI using connector adaptor?
Hi
I am trying to connect a third HDMI source to my U3417W monitor, using the DP in and a HDMI to DP adaptor.
No matter what machine, or HDMI cable, or adaptor (I have a few), there is no signal.
My old HP monitor supported HDMI to DP (with a cable adaptor)
Just want to know if I'm wasting my time, or there's something wrong with the monitor
Thanks

jphughan is as usual correct!
Simply stated for all readers...
PC DP out port --> DP to HDMI cable/converter --> Monitor HDMI in port
PC HDMI out --> HDMI to DP cable/converter --> Monitor DP in port (Never works using the standard one direction only DP to HDMI cable/converter. Doing the opposite direction requires a specific converter>
* Open the sticky, FAQ Monitor
* Open, PC HDMI/DVI/VGA out to Monitor DP/mDP/HDMI in

@TheBood See this post I wrote about this, since it comes to a lot. If you used DP to HDMI with your old HP display, you almost certainly were using the HDMI side on the display. That works fine. Using the DP side with the display does not, at least not without a very specific type of adapter/cable.
