U3419W, two PCs, one sleeps, monitor blank, #2

I've been experiencing the issue described in this U3818DW thread with my U3419W. It especially happens when the other system is connected through DisplayPort or USB Type-C. USB Type-C is also using USB Alt mode DP so basically DisplayPort. I didn't see the issue if the system (inactive system) connects through HDMI.

Dell support provided new firmware (M3B112) that I've been running for two weeks now and it has resolved the issues that I mentioned above. I was going to wait until the firmware got posted to the support site before updating the thread here, but at this point I'm mentioning it here before I forget.

Note = Firmware M3B112 can ONLY be installed on a U3419W that has firmware M3B107 currently installed. If the U3419W shipped with firmware M3B111, you cannot install firmware M3B112.

U3419W, two PCs, one sleeps, monitor blank =

* Open the Menu OSD- Input Source
* Change Auto Select to Off and retest

* If the setting change above does not correct the issue, contact Dell Technical Support. Explain this specific issue of two PC's connected to a single U3419W and sleep mode. The technician should then look up the Dell internal article SLN322290 for further instructions.

* The non-released to public M3B112 firmware only corrected a specific issue = U3419W, two PCs, one sleeps, monitor blank
* If your U3419W shipped with firmware M3B111, you cannot install firmware M3B112. The U3419W that shipped with firmware M3B111 have a different LCD panel and PCB board that are not designed for firmware M3B112
* Firmware M3B112 can ONLY be installed on a U3419W that has firmware M3B107 currently installed. Open the U3419W Menu- Others- Firmware to verify that M3B107 is installed

I'm happy to report that the firmware update appears to have fixed the issue for me.

I'm also using USB-C and DP and have the same issue. It is quite frustrating. Certainly seems to be a firmware issue where the monitor is incorrectly going to sleep when an inactive input goes to sleep.

There's another thread that claims changing Auto Select input to 'Off' fixed it. But mine's been set up that way since the day I got it. I'm running the latest monitor firmware and the latest Dell Display Manager. It would be really nice to see a firmware update to fix this.

I am communicating with the dell engineers to solve this. I've captured a few videos, configurations, steps for them to reproduce but they still can't. Don't know why they can't as I can reproduce with multiple laptops(w/ Dell XPS or w/ Lenovo) or desktops. It would be a perfect monitor.. (I know.. except the speaker) if they can solve this issue.

I've had some back and forth with support detailing my setup and all my monitor settings, so certainly hopeful for a fix.

This specific issue affects my monitor multiple times per day.  There are a few threads around here with this monitor and other Dell monitors where people got annoyed enough to seek out assistance, so it's not exactly a rare occurrence out in the field either (assuming most people just don't expend the effort to report the issue).

It's a nice monitor for sure, but it has some other annoying quirks as well.  I kept my report to the support team simple and focused on the "other input puts the active input to sleep" issue, but I have another issue where the monitor occasionally goes black even while both inputs are active (I end up using my Dell Display Manager hotkey to toggle the input twice to get back to what I was doing).

I also have an issue where sometimes the monitor wakes up at around half brightness (dark areas are quite exaggerated) and the only way to get it back to normal is to turn the monitor completely off and back on (switching inputs doesn't help when this happens).  The half brightness issue seems to occur after longer periods of sleep and especially when the monitor goes to sleep on one input and is woken up on another input (e.g. monitor goes to sleep while on USB-C laptop input, then later turn on desktop, log in to Windows, and use the input toggle hotkey to switch the monitor to the DP desktop input).

The speaker doesn't bother me because I don't use it

Has there been any solution to this problem?

My ticket was updated to say that they were able to reproduce the issue and are working on a fix.  I don't know of any ETA for the fix.

Thanks for the update, that's great news. Dell team, any update on when the new firmware will be available on the support site?
