U3818DW, signal cuts out / goes blank

I experience the same behavior as ginod.

It looks like that in my case it usually happens, when the second connected computer - in my case either notebook via usb-c or desktop via DP - turns it's display on or off.

I noticed this first while opening or closing the additionally via usb-c connected notebook which resulted in the screen turning black while working on my desktop.

I could also notice it, while I was working on my notebook and the display turned of for about 1 or 2 seconds when I saw the secondary display of my desktop going into standby.

The inactive display connection should have no effect on the currently active display. This is clearly a bug.

It does not matter which of the two computers is currently active and each of them alone work without a problem.

As I said in my original post: An quasi-inactive display connection should never influence the currently active one.

None. In my case the monitor goes black for 1-2 seconds as well, but it happens on the USB-C as well as the DP port.

I posted in the other thread because the behaviour is similar.

Did your U3818DW ship with the M3B103 firmware?

If not, did your U3818DW have this issue before you installed the M3B103 firmware?

No, it was shipped with, I believe, M3B101.

While looking for something else I found thie M3B103 and it was marked as "recommended", so I flashed it.

I can't remember if I encountered this issue before or if I even had the notebook connected before already.

OK. Then my recommendation is that you should initiate a like for like monitor exchange. Do not return any U3818DW until you test the replacement. Connect the replacement U3818DW. What is the 20 digit alpha-numeric U3818DW serial number, A0x revision, firmware? If not M3B103, do not install the M3B103 firmware. Test the replacement U3818DW. Does the replacement have the same issue?

I have the same issue.  When viewing source on USB-C, the screen will blank when a device on DP goes to "sleep".

I'm curious if hardware replacement actually fixes the issue, or if it is firmware related.  I'm on the latest available firmware.

This started occurring this morning for the first time.

It went away after powering off then on (using the power button).

My monitor, purchased in March 2018, has the newest firmware.

I've been having this problem since I bought my Dell in March of 2017.  2 new monitors and 3 HDMI cables later the problem persists,  No help from Dell.  Super bummed since I bought a brand new monitor specifically as a potential solve.  No dice.  Purchasing another laptop in the Spring and will not likely be a Dell.  Super frustrating issue.
