U3419W, USB Switch shortcut, Resolution help

Hi All,

Got a few questions about my newly acquired U3419W:

- I have installed DDM on my primary laptop (Old Lenovo). I cannot install it on my secondary ( Surface Pro - it is work laptop with restrictions) - Question is  - I have set up a shortcut for USB Switch in DDM on laptop 1. The USB switches successfully from Laptop 1 to 2, but the same shortcut doesnt work from laptop 2 to 1. I assigned shortcut key on monitor to usb switch from 2 to 1, but this is tedious. Am I doing something wrong? or is there a way round this so I can use keyboard shortcuts to switch without having to reach to the monitor?

- Question 2 - On PBP side by side view, I'm getting black banding on top and bottom. I have tried playing with display setting on both but not having luck. I did notice though that when laptop 2 lid is open, it occupies more vertical space on monitor which is what I want on the monitor - Laptop 2 is Surface pro. I think closing the lids on both the laptops changes something whereby the resolution auto changes to really high. Not sure whats the best option here to use more of the monitor space

Thanks

A few things.

If your work policy allows installation of Windows Store apps, you can find DDM there and install it on your Surface.

If you use an external USB kbd, and you are triggering the hotkey with that, it won't work when the kbd is connected to the Surface because the hotkey never reaches DDM on the Lenovo. Try triggering the hotkey on the Lenovo laptop kbd instead.

As for the difference in behavior when the laptop lid is open and closed, it sounds like you may have Windows Display properties set to duplicate the laptop screen on the U34. When you close the lid, it autoswitches to external only, i.e., in duplicate mode the U34 receives the recommended timing for the laptop screen, while with the lid closed it gets the recommended timing for the U34.

Hi, Thanks

Re. USB Switch, I will just use hard key shortcut on monitor itself as I cannot install DDM on work laptop

Re. Resolution, I managed to fix this by going into Intel Graphics settings and changing display settings on there and it appears to have more settings then standard Windows Display settings - in case anyone else is having similar issues.
