U3818DW, 2021 MacBook Pro, USB does not wake up

Let me first say that I am aware that the hardware combo I have (Dell U3818DW and 2021 16" MacBook Pro) is "unsupported" but I wanted to report an issue.

I am currently running the latest public firmware M3B106 for the U3818DW.

Previously, I was using a 2018 Mac Mini via the (monitor) included USB-C cable. Waking from inactivity was possible by pressing any key on the keyboard. Now, with the 2021 MacBook Pro, it is not. The keyboard must be unplugged/replugged or the USB-C cable must be unplugged/replugged in order for the keyboard to function again. This is quite obviously unexpected behavior and very inconvenient. Even if I wake via the laptop keyboard, the keyboard is non-functional until I perform the aforementioned steps. It should be noted that the keyboard has power over USB, however the input signals do not appear to be sent to the laptop.

I have seen the thread about USB 2.0 speeds with the USB-C cable. This isn't my issue (and I don't care about the USB speed, as I'm only using the USB A ports for peripherals).

My first thought was that there is an issue with low power/sleep states and how the monitor responds to them in regards to USB.

I am wondering if it would be possible for the hardware team responsible for this monitor to investigate this issue (or for me to assist in that regard) and possibly release an update to the firmware?

Cool, I will just not buy or recommend another Dell monitor. Thanks!

Dell would not allocate resources to create a firmware update to address an issue with non-supported operating system.

For Dell to act, you would have to replicate the failure on a supported Windows PC. Then present those results to the DELL-Cares agents.
