U3818DW, MacBook, audio and brightness controls, solution

I'm posting to this community, because I have a setup MacBook where I can control my Dell display volume and brightness over my Apple keyboard.

There are two solutions I found:

Install MonitorControl. This gives control to both brightness and volume.

Install SunflowerBed, this gives control only to volume and in some software you might experience an audio delay.

For me both solution work even in a pretty complicated setup:

Macbook =USB-C=> External GPU =Display Port=> Dell U3818DW
Using a USB external apple keyboard.

I just decided to post this solutions as a separate thread because other threads were closed with no solution provided by Dell support.

MonitorControl worked from me btw with the following setup;

- MacBook Pro 13" 2019 (Catalina 10.15.5) connected via USB-C to Dell U3818DW using Keychron K2 Bluetooth keyboard. (screen brightness buttons and volume control buttons all work via the K2)

My other Mac setup interestingly enough it did not work;

- Mac Mini 2018 (Mohavi 10.14.6) connected via built-in HDMI to Dell U3818DW using the same Keychron K2 Bluetooth keyboard.

I'm guessing HDMI is the problem reading DDC info from the monitor, planning to try via the Displayport on the Dell once I get a USB-C to DP adapter perhaps.

Nifty utility btw, need to enable Accessibility for MonitorControl via System Preferences->Security->Privacy btw for it to work correctly. Hope this proves useful to others.

Thanks. I added the link to the FAQ and the other threads.

A brief update, so I switched the Mac Mini from using HDMI to DP output via a USB-C to DP adapter off Amazon (KEEZING Branded) and all MonitorControl functions work now with the U3818DW via the same Keychron K2 keyboard.

The only essential control function missing I find is input switching, which would be handy to have in this tool as well. It's a shame Dell doesn't provide basic support such as this for their products for Mac users unfortunately.
