U4021QW, macOS DDM closes when switching input
I have a MacBook Pro 14" (2021) plugged into a Dell U4021QW via the display's Thunderbolt 3 port. When I change the monitor input to another device, and later change back to the MacBook, DDM has crashed with an error message "DDM has detected unexpected error. Please close DDM." (screen capture below) This occurs under MacOS 12.1, 12.2, and 12.2.1, and with DDM versions 1.50.0041 and 1.50.0042 (which I confirmed is the latest). My monitor has firmware M2T102 (also the latest, I think).
The other device attached to this monitor (via the HDMI & USB-B inputs) is a Windows Laptop running DDM for Windows, and it does not have this problem. Thus I think it is unique to Dell Display Manager for Mac...
Anyone have any ideas? I've tried to contact Dell tech support to report this as a possible bug, and getting absolutely nowhere (the last technician tried to get me to update my Mac with a Windows version of DDM, so not much confidence there). Thus trying the Community...
Much appreciated!

PS. I just realized there was a firmware update - just updated to M2T104 but still have the same problem.

I have this same issue with different model monitor U2723QE with the MAC version. I worked a while with Dell tech support, but eventually they said it must be a software issue that I would need to contact their paid support team. What I can say for sure is that it's not just you!

Glad to know I'm not alone! But very unimpressed by Dell so far.... One of my attempts to deal with their tech support ended in the same result - they wanted 60EUR for the privilege of reporting a bug in their software!

I have the same problem. I have a premium support maybe I can get their software team to push a fix.

I opened a ticket with # , I'm not getting my hopes high. The first level of support was not great, wanted me to update with a windows version until I said for the nth time that we were talking about the mac version.

I've been having the same problem! I've had two different techs propose a Windows-specific solution for a Mac software problem... Fingers crossed, we can eventually get to someone who can help.

Have you tested the macOS DDM version 1.6.0.0020 released on April 28, 2022?

I updated to the latest version of DDM (1.6.0.0020) shortly after it was released, and unfortunately the problem still occurs. When changing monitor inputs from another source back to the Mac, DDM has crashed with the same error message. I've also updated my MacOS to 12.4 with no improvement.

macOS DDM (Dell Display Manager) 1.6.0.0020 is no longer available. Uninstall the macOS DDM. Install the new DDPM (Dell Display Peripheral Manager) for macOS. Reboot when done and retest.

Hi Chris, I updated my system to DDPM v1.0.0.0010, and while the behavior is slightly different, I still don't think it's working properly. DDPM still crashes when you change the input from another source (i.e. HDMI) back to a Mac connected via Thunderbolt, you just don't get an error message. But DDPM is no longer working despite the lack of error messages - for example, if you try to move a window, you no longer get the 'easy arrange' pop-up options. I've tested this multiple times, after rebooting each time, and the same thing happens each time...
