U4320Q, DDM commands, PIP/PBP
I am trying to assign a desktop shortcut for DDM (Dell Display Manager) that goes from Single input to PIP, Large, Top Right, HDMI
Also another one to switch to PBP with DP1 on the left and HDMI 1 on the right
I have used the DDM commands before found in the readme.txt in the installation folder, however I am not sure what would be used to accomplish what I need
If any one has a breakdown for this that would be great
I managed to Download the MCCS 2.2a standard hoping to find a full breakdown of commands in there but it is a bit above my head
Any insight appreciated, thank you.

Try these.
To setup PBP with DP1 on the left and HDMI1 on the right:
ddm.exe /SetActiveInput DP1 /SetSubInput HDMI1 /SetPxP PBP
To setup PIP (large) with an HDMI1 feed:
ddm.exe /SetSubInput HDMI1 /SetPxP PIP-Large
You cannot specify PIP window position with the DDM command-line; you need to use the DDM PIP position hotkey to cycle among the 4 possible positions.

Just to add come clarity
I was actually referring to the command language.
Fragments of which are found in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Dell Display Manager\readme.txt"
I would like the respective commands for PIP and PBP activation and settings for the U4320Q
Mock example of what I would like:
"ddm.exe /TurnOnPBP /PBPTopRightLarge \SetPBPInput HDMI1" (replace red text with the actual correct command syntax)
See below excerpt from the readme file.
I am simply looking for the appropriate commands fro my intended use case
"Command language
-----------------------------------------------
A rich and flexible command language is supported via the
command-line, and command-line arguments can be combined.
Where appropriate, a specific display can be targeted by
prefacing the command with the monitor serial number or
enumerated display number, e.g., "2:AutoSetup"; if a
display serial or enumerated number is not specified the
command will be applied to the current selected display
or to all displays, as appropriate. Commands include:
SetActiveInput [DVI2/HDMI/DP2,etc] - switches active input
RestoreFactoryDefaults - restores factory defaults*
AutoSetup - executes an autosetup (analog only)*
RestoreLevelDefaults - restores level defaults*
RestoreColorDefaults - restores color defaults*
SetBrightnessLevel X - sets brightness to X% (0-100)*
SetContrastLevel X - sets contrast to X% (0-100)*
SetNamedPreset [Movie/CAL1,etc] - changes the Preset mode*
SetPowerMode [on/off] - sets the display power mode*
SetOptimalResolution - switches to optimal resolution
SaveProfile [Name] - save settings to named profile*
RestoreProfile [Name] - restore settings from named profile*
DeleteProfile [Name] - delete named profile
SetGridType [X] - changes Easy Arrange grid type to X
Rescan - rescans display hardware
ForceReset - reconnects and rescans display hardware
SetControl X Y - sets hex control X to hex value Y
IncControl X Y - increases the value of control X by Y
DecControl X Y - decreases the value of control X by Y
Zoom - switches between PxP and fullscreen mode
Wait X - pause X milliseconds
Exit - terminates the program
Some of these commands require familiarity with the MCCS
standard. For example, on monitors that support it the
command to switch the OSD language to Spanish would be
"SetControl CC 0A"; to unlock an OSD that has been
inadvertently locked "SetControl CA 02".
Instructions can be combined on the command-line, and
assigned to standard Windows shortcuts with optional hotkeys
or coupled with the native Windows Task Scheduler to execute at
certain times.
For example:
"ddm.exe /RestoreLevelDefaults /2:SetContrastLevel 70"
would first restore level defaults on all monitors, and then
set the contrast level on monitor #2 to 70%.
NB: If not targeted to a specific monitor, commands listed
above that are tagged with an asterisk (*) apply to all
monitors to facilitate simple and uniform control over all
members of a multimonitor matrix. For instance, if executed
on a matrix of 16 similar monitors, the command-line:
"ddm.exe /SetNamedPreset Warm /SetBrightnessLevel 75"
would set all 16 monitors to Warm preset mode, with a
brightness level of 75%."

This does not seem to want to work. when i run the shortcut with the commands it seems to stall
So much so, that i have to manually change the sources so DDM can reset and respond to other commands
double checked the syntax and spelling,
This worked perfectly thank you

If DP1 is normally your main input, then try this:
ddm.exe /SetSubInput HDMI1 /SetPxP PBP

No luck either unfortunately
I'm wondering if the grid type of the PBP needs to be specified as well ? eg: 1x1, 2x2 etc?

No, that should work. "PBP" defaults to a 50/50 split; you only need to specify if you want one of the other possible splits.
Best kicked over to someone at Dell for investigation...
In the meantime, these are the PIP/PBP parameters that *should* work with the U43.

All, I am trying to find / set the PIP position hotkey, and cannot find it in the latest DDM version (from 1/2021).
Is there something I am missing? Under options, I have : Program Shortcut key, Application window ... , and Easy Arrange MRU ..
Any help would be appreciated, the PIP always gets in the way at some point!
Thanks,
Steve

Are you using multiple monitors? The U43 has to be the selected monitor in DDM, since different monitors have different feature sets - just move the DDM main window to the U43 and you should find the "PIP position shortcut key" in the Options page/tab, immediately below "Easy Arrange MRU".

I actually have a U3419W - I guess its not an option, although I don't know why -
High-end monitor, and PIP can be moved..

Its not so much higher end as newer. The latest U34 - the U3421 - has this feature, but not the older U3419/U3417/U3415s.

@Anonymous- is there a possibility of adding the PIP move features to the U3917/U3919 please! Such a pain when windows hide behind the PIP.
