* Uninstall 2.0.0.135
* Go to the top of this Monitors Forum board
* Open FAQ Monitor
* Open the FAQ DDM (Dell Display Manager)
* Scroll down to DDM 2.0, install the 2.0.0.138 beta. Retest

I get the same results with the beta version 2.0.0.138.  See attached snippet.

It's odd that it snap aligns properly for two windows side-by-side, but when I use three windows, the right and middle windows snap to be overlapped.

Sincerely, Joe

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the same issue.

I am also having this problem with window overlap and some windows aren't snapping to the full size of the grid. Also, I would like to be able to customize the number and size of grids, which I've heard used to be an option in earlier versions.

* Uninstall DDM 2.0
* Go to the top of this Monitors Forum board
* Open FAQ Monitor
* Open the FAQ DDM (Dell Display Manager)
* I know that the U4919DW is not on the "Compatible Systems" list, but try to install the DDM 1.56.2110. If it does install, test it

For me:

  • DDM 2.0 -- none of the versions work, including the beta
  • DDM 1.56.2110 -- works

But I prefer to use DDM 2.0 because of the auto recent zone thing.

Any chance this the overlapping issue will be fixed in 2.0?

You're right.  I don't find the option to save custom grid layouts in version 2.0.0.135 as I could in the earlier version.

DDM version 1.56.2110 solves the overlap issue, but as expected I lose some of the nice functionality of DDM version 2.0.0.135.

I suppose DDM version 2.0.0.135 is not ready for prime time.

Sincerely, Joe

Seems like the newest DDM version was a step backwards.  Hopefully senior developers will take the DDM project away from the interns and fix the issues.

You also lose the application pop up that lets you quickly move a window to a specific zone while you're dragging it. That's super useful!

This is insane.  Dell creates a new version of software, and that new version introduces new issues that cause the Dell Display Manager to not perform/work correctly, and Dell is saying the consumer should create a repair ticket and be subjected to charges.  The Display Manager didn't have these issues before Dell released a new version. It's your new version and you own it.

I've been talking to support over email about this and now they are telling me that I will need to pay for them to fix the bug. This is crazy.

I have tried these versions of DDM on my Windows 10 machine:

  • 1.56.2110
  • 2.0.X
  • 2.1.X

The 2.X versions have a bug where windows overlap. Version 1.x does not. I've been talking to support over email and now they are saying I have to pay to fix this. Does anyone know anything about this? Is Dell really charging people to fix bugs with their own products?

Are you sure you're not talking to someone in Myanmar.  That is totally crazy.

A new thread was not required.

Dell Technical Support should be troubleshooting the DDM issue IF the original purchased warranty is still valid. If the original purchased warranty has expired, there will be a charge for Support services.

The DDM team is aware of this thread. Until they release a new version to test, all you can do is go back to the older versions as shown in the FAQ DDM (Dell Display Manager).
