Many thanks to those that responded to my post.

The issue has been resolved based upon the inputs in another related post.  The solution was to un-plug the monitor and all connected cables.  I waited about 15 minutes, meanwhile depressing the power button for a several minutes, and then reconnected all cables.  The power button worked perfectly.
