UP2716D, DUCCS calibration failure

Hi everyone,

I'm having a lot of trouble calibrating my UP2716D with the DUCCS software and an X-Rite i1Display Pro colorimeter. To fight this, I've done the following:

  • Installed updated Dell drivers for this UP2716D on my Dell XPS 15 9570. This machine is configured to dual boot with a Linux install.
  • Connected the UP2716D to my laptop via the HDMI port
  • Connected the XPS 15 9570 to the UP2716D via the USB upstream cable provided with the UP2716D.  This cable is connected to USB upstream port 1 on this UP2716D.
  • I've tested the USB hub with a USB drive. It mounts correctly.
  • I've used the NVIDIA Control Panel to change global settings to prefer the NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti card under all conditions.
  • I've set the NVIDIA Control Panel to the only universal app under "Graphics Settings" in the Display part of the control panel.

Despite all of this, the MonitorFirmwareUpdateUtility application still shows the following error:

"Monitor not detected. Ensure USB cable is connected and monitor is powered on. See Help for more information."

Does anyone have anything else that I could check or do?

Thanks

Because the warranty expired 22 months ago, Dell Technical Support cannot assist you in this. Which leaves the Forum to assist.

Open the Menu OSD- Others. Choose Factory Reset. DDC/CI should be Enable.

Dell never released a stand alone firmware update for the UP2716D. DUCCS 1.5.10 included firmware M3T102. DUCCS 1.5.10 was then pulled. What firmware is your UP2716D currently running? Which versions of DUCCS have you tested?

Chris M,

The link in your post that points to the different DUCCS versions solved the issue.  The latest version in that list for Windows applications worked wonderfully.  I was able to hardware calibrate both of my UP2716Ds, with AdobeRGB and sRGB in calibration 1 and 2 respectively.

Thanks for you help.

I guess firmware update software is not available for this product?

Dell does not support linux drivers for random pcs.

http://linux.dell.com/

Dell does NOT support every linux under the sun or every distro and sub distro.

If you ordered a dell with LINUX pre installed its supported.

Dell does not write drivers for monitors etc.

There is linux support from redhat, SUSE, and ubuntu but this is not free.

Hi speedstep,

Thanks for getting back to me.  Though my avatar is Linuxuser45, I am not trying to calibrate the UP2716D on a Linux distro.  Dell never created the DUCCS software for use on a Linux Distro, so I thought this was implied.  I'm trying to format the LUT on a windows 10 machine with the DUCCS software, as suitable software calibration tools for the distro I use have not been updated.  I need to update the firmware for this monitor on that same windows 10 machine before I can hardware calibrate it.  So, I'm asking if anyone here knows where I can find the windows 10 firmware update utility for the UP2716D monitor.

Hello,

if have a similar problem. I bought a Dell UP2716D, which was produced in 2015 and still has the Firmware M3T101. I can not find a download for DUCCS 1.5.10 with the Firmeware Update to M3T102. When I use earlier Versions like DUCCS 1.5.9, the Software crashed before starting the mesurement. When I try to use a newer Version of DUCCS it eather also crashed or tells me to update the Firmware to M3T102, which i would like to do, but can not since there is no download for the DUCCS 1.5.10 or just the Firmeware. The technical support is also not available since the garanty expired. So where can I get it? Does somebody still has the installation package and could send it to me?

I am using i1 Display Pro on Windows 10 Pro, Version 1919. I hope there is a solution for calibration since the screen is a bit too green, doesn´t matter in which setting. In worst case I will use DisplayCAL.

Thank you in advance,

Best regards,

Nadja

Update: Seems like I have Firmware M3T102 (in some DUCCS Versions I got the error message I should upgrade to this version, but the Monitor Info says I have it). But only DUCCS Version 1.6.0.2151 works sometimes. All the other Versions of DUCCS failed completly for me, they crashed during the process or gave error messages. Would be great if there would be more Infos regarding DUCCS Version compatibility for this monitor. Like this it took me a lot of time searching the dell pages and trying different versions again and again.
