i have the same monitor as you - i use my USB connectors for things like dig cams and net MD - the cables are too sort to run from PC so i attach to monitor - i also connect my mouse to it so i have more cable on the desk - really they are handy for things you connect and disconnect alot so you dont have to go crawling about on the floor every time you need to change summat
i have the pci express x300se   you should look for a card that states it has dual monitor support as this will usually have dvi fot your fp monitor and analogue for crt   - this makes for a cool setup  the radeon pci express series have the dual monitor and are now shipped with most high end dell computers - it seems to work well for me but thgey are a tad pricey

thanks for the reply.  my 8250 is about 2-3 years old, will the motherboard support a pci card?  i am thinking it should as long a si have a pci slot free....right?   i should know this by now but what the heck.

yes the motherboard should support pci   but not agp (probably) there are plenty of cards out there which will do what you wnat them to do youve just got to get one that fits to pci - try a google search or something
