Using 2407WFP as a source for 1080p high-definition

Question

Does anyone know, can the 2407 WFP be used as a source for a 1080p device?  i.e, can it support, say, the PS3 or a blue-ray DVD at max resolution?    If the answer is yes, how does it account for the difference in native resolution: The native resolution for the 2407 WFP is 1920x1200 vs. the native resolution for 1080p 'blue-ray dvd'/'high-definition broadcast' which is: 1920x1080.    If the answer is no, is there any monitor out there that supports this, or is one better off buying a 1080p TV.   My goal is to buy a monitor that can be used as a second TV with the priority being to be used first and foremost as a computer monitor, next as a high-definition screen for a  HD-DVD/blue-ray player, and finally as a high-definition screen for an xbox360/PS3. A monitor can't technically be a SOURCE for HD content...but whatever ;). As far as I know, yes, you can view 1080p content unstreched 1:1 with small black bars at the top and bottom. I haven't been able to test it as of yet, my ATI card doesn't properly support 1:1 timings and my 360 when hooked up via VGA can output at a variety of resolutions (including 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x1024 and 1360x768) but not 1920x1080. Apparently Microsoft is soon releasing an update to enable naitive 1080p playback, so we'll see.

1080i is also a no go as deinterlacing is apparently not supported on anything but component.

When you run your 360 at 1280x720, does it stretch to fit the whole screen or is it 1:1? Do you have a choice?

Yep, you can switch between 1:1, aspect, and fill. 1:1 is not advisable as 1280x720 will be a smaller box in the middle of the screen. Aspect will scale it to fit properly with black bars, and fill will strech. The good thing is it remembers the aspect setting for each input so I'm not having to reset it each time I switch to VGA. There is no reason to think that 1920x1080 wouldn't work that way as well.

That's good. I just can't run normal PC apps fullscreen at for example 1280x720 and get fixed-ratio scaling. I can only get 1:1 for all widescreen resolutions under 1920x1080.

If your looking for a multimedia monitor as a main feature and also can use it with a PC output, also with HDMI and true 1080P aspect, then look at Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p.

XBOX360 would be native at 1080P and 37". That's the big thing with this monitor :)

You won't believe the price, averages $1,200 $1,300 U.S., get an extended warranty, manufacturer is new to LCD game. Nothing on the market today comes close to it under $3,000.00.

What about running a pc game in 1920x1080 at 1:1 (scaled by video card)? It strikes me as odd to think that wouldn't work. Has anyone with an Nvidia card tried this?

These are known problems & all the facts is an expert on these monitors btw. What should happen & what does happen are two separate things... The best way of doing it is through a hdmi/tv tuner card - vidio in out placed into a pci/pci-e slot on your motherboard. cheers

Set nVidia to true aspect. Should work, 1600x1200 does. Anyone else :)
