UZ2315H - Only one speaker is working (?)

Hi,

I've just got my new monitor, UZ2315H.
I connected it to my desktop via HDMI.
I've also connected it via usb in order to enable the speakers too.

The problem is that i hear the sound from one speaker only (bottom left).
As the monitor has 2 speakers, i guess that the other one is at the bottom right. But i can't hear any sound from it. The sound only comes from the bottom left side.

What can i do? Should i send the monitor as DOA? Or do i miss something?

Thanks in advance.

Hello again.

Just to update and 'close' this topic, i thought that maybe the HDMI cable caused it, so i tried to use a different HDMI cable but again the same result. Then i re-tried with another one. Again the same.
Finally, i tried another one cable (thanks god i had some spare) and then it worked. Now i can hear the sound from both speakers.

PS: I used an HDMI cable with an angle, because the original one 'pushes' the cable a bit outside due to a thick part it has, well can't explain it, it looks something like that:

Thanks for your help anyway.

:)

Did you check the left/right volumes in Control Panel- Sound -Playback -UZ2315H -Properties -Levels -Balance?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply.
Yep, already checked it, they are the same.

But i've found that i miss something. At the Sound-Playback it shows me only the "Echo Canceling Speakerphone" option. And at another post i saw that you have posted a screenshot(which i cant find now) where it should show two options, the  "Echo Canceling Speakerphone" and another one with the name of the monitor. I don't have that option, and i guess that this is the problem why i hear the sound that way.

I've installed everything i've found here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/dell-uz2315h/drivers
(So i've installed DELL_UZ2315H-MONITOR_A00-00_DRVR_6N9GY.exe, ddmsetup1450.exe and DELL_UZ2315H-MONITOR_A00-00_DRVR_1K8M6.exe)

So since i've installed the drivers, what else could i do?

What operating system? Does the monitor appear in the Device Manager?

In the Device Manager, open Universal Serial Bus controllers. Disconnect the monitor USB upstream cable from the computer. Devices should disappear from Universal Serial Bus controllers. Reconnect the cable. Device should reappear.

Hi,

I have Win10.

The monitor appears.

At Universal Serial Bus controllers of Device manager, when i disconnect and reconnect, it shows an extra "Generic USB Hub" and two "USB Composite Device".

At Sound-Playback it shows me again the "Echo Canceling Speakerphone" option only.

About the screenshot i said at my previous post, i meant the second one you just posted (at my pc it shows only the Echo Cancelling Speakerphone and NOT the Dell UZ2315H-1).

Open the Sound Playback box. Right click on the white area and check both option =
Show Disabled Devices
Show Disconnected Devices

Does anything then appear?

Nope, still nothing.

But, i did a new fresh clean install of win7 to check if Win10 causes the problem.
I've installed all motherboard's related drivers (audio,chipset,usb3,vga etc) and now they both appear.

But the sound still plays only from the left speaker.

Moreover, whether i choose Echo Cancelling Speakerphone or Dell UZ2315H as playback device, the sound quality is the same. (i am not sure but i guess that the Echo Cancelling Speakerphone should have a bit worse quality than UZ2315H, or should they be the same?)

In any case, even at configure panel, the sound from the right speaker doesn't sound.

Is there anything else which i could do? :/

I am at a loss. Maybe the monitor is defective. Get the monitor exchanged. Test the replacement before sending any monitor back to Dell. If the replacement does not have the issue, keep it and send us the original. If the replacement has the SAME issue, the monitors were not at fault. Send the replacement back to Dell. Look to the computer operating system drivers or hardware as the culprit.
