Why 3 monitors showing in Settings?

I have a workstation with two monitors attached.  Both work.  However, in Settings where you set up monitors, it shows the two monitors (1 & 2) and then it shows monitor number 3 kind of grayed out.  Why is a 3rd monitor showing?  The real problem is:  When we open an app that's been minimized, it flys off the screen to the side, thinking it may think there's a 3rd monitor its trying to find.  Any ideas appreciated.

Hi Cobra, If the ability to enable another monitor is present in the configuration of your computer, windows will show a 3rd monitor in the area which you describe. If it is grayed out, and small, then it should not be enabled. If you right click on it, it should have an option in its menu "attached" if this is not ticked, then the monitor should not be functional. Hope that helps.

njstew  Yes, that's makes sense.  However, it seems that if it came built to only handle one monitor and I added a card so it could handle a second monitor, why would it be showing three.  Could it be the card I added could actually handle two? It wasn't advertised as a dual monitor card. ??
