Hi Kos1985,

The basic requirements for 3D on XPS 17 are:

3D LCD

3D System Board

3D Board and Cable

3D Software

3D Glasses

The XPS 17 was shipped with two variants of system boards which support 3D. Here are the part numbers with description:

Dell part # 8DW4W - (Order for TXP27) 3D 3G VRAM (integrated GT 555M GPU) with 4 DIMM slots MB SVC Kit (include MB, DB, I/O BD & CPU thermal pad)

Dell part #  C2C0R - (Order for P4N30) 3D 1G VRAM (integrated GT 550M GPU) with 2 DIMMS slots MB SVC Kit (include MB, DB, I/O BD & CPU thermal pad)

The difference between the above two system boards is the video RAM. If the system was shipped with either of the system boards, changing the LCD will be enough to get 3D, other wise the system board also needs to be changed. You will also need the 3D board cable (Dell part # RMKPW)

Please contact out Out of Warranty and Repairs on 1-800-288-4410 who will help you purchase the parts and set up a service call.

Please reply if you have any further questions.
