2 problems when i wanna to make a file restore

I got 2 problems when i wanna to make a file restore.

(1)
Version: Networker 7.2.x (Server & Client)
I could not find any files under a mount point (For example, /abc) in the Networker client when perform Networker restore. This machine was upgraded from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10 in May, and i did re-install and configure the networker backup of this machine after OS upgrade.
We noted that /abc was a soft link pointing to /data/abc in previous Solaris 8 OS while /abc is now a mount point to local disk. The Networker backup of this machine is completed without error, but the files under /abc disappear in Networker restore. How can i restore the data?

(2)
Version: Networker 7.4.x (Server & Client)
We set the browse and retention policies be 6 days. The full backup job are OK at last Monday (1 tape used), and we changed the recycle of this tape from auto to manual. Today, we put this tape into the tape library and we would like to make a file restore. But we can't restore those file by this tape. There is no record inside the index. I can just restore those file by this Monday full backup. How can i restore the data by using the last Monday full backup? Thanks!

Thanks a lots!!

Check if there is anything under /data/abc in the restore window.

As per the policy you set, the Browse policy was 6 days so after 6 days, Networker will remove indexes from the server until you changed its life using some command line. These indexes will stay on tape and you need to rebuild them using scanner -i OR nsrck -L7.

Alternate way would be to do a Save Set recovery.

Thanks!

Thanks a lots!!

If I remember correctly NW does not follow symlinks (except rawasm) so you should look for your data under /data/abc (if looking after data before upgrade).

For second problem, you can either do ssid restore or recover index with nsrck -L7 -t

Yes, i can't expand any soft link for restore. However, the /data/abc is not here after upgraded, there is just a mount point /abc now. And the icon of the path /abc is a soft link shown in the NW console. Thus, i can't expoand the /abc for file restore. :(

(1) There is nothing under /data/abc because it's not exists. I found that the path /abc is shown as a soft link icon in the nwrecover console but it is a mount point now. I checked the indexes by nwadmin console, the oldest date of instance of the path /abc is 06/06/09 (After the upgrade). And i don't know what can i do now... :(

(2) Thanks a lots, i think i need to modify the retention policy again.

You need to change Browse policy also for the seocnd point.

For the first problem, i modified the save set backup from "All" to "/abc". I can expand and restore those files under "/abc" now. But...we would like to use "All" to to do the full system backup. :(

Do you mean by this:

We noted that /abc was a soft link pointing to
/data/abc in previous Solaris 8 OS while /abc is now
a mount point to local disk.

that /abc is just a folder on that box? Can you post the output for ls -l /abc ?
