AIX and Networker inquire command

We have been working a case for way too long with EMC support relating to Networker 7.4.x inquire commands generating DISK_ERR2 SCSI reservation errors against our SAN attached storage when you execute either the dvdetect or inquire command without filtering out the SAN storage.

We are getting some feedback that these errors may be benign which we are having a hard time accepting.

My question - does anyone else have an environment with AIX where they experience SCSI reservation errors when attempting to run dvdetect (storage node discovery via the GUI) or the inquire command?

Thanks in advance.

I have same situation in some customers with AIX, all the time need to run inquire -l to check new devices (in case when use VTL is frequently add new devices).

Would using this with -s switch help? In that case inq would not go there querying for additional data on device which might address the issue.
