Backing up second DB2 instance on Linux
Hi
We have just installed NetWorker and NMDB2 on the Linux host.
The Linux host has two DB2 databases running on it.
I have configured both datases seperatley for backup using the wizard.
The first instance backup works fine, However when trying to backup the second instance, the backup fails.
Im having this problem on two Linux servers which both have two databases running on it.
Does anyone know how to backup the second DB2 instance on the Linux client ?
Thanks

Hi,
Here's a couple of articles that might help:
DB2 Backup fails in multiple instances
Unable to backup multiple DB2 instances at the same time
Also, you will need a separate NetWorker client instance for each db2 instance. The NMDB2 Admin Guide states this is supported, so it should work.

I don't have DB2 at the moment so can't guess top of my head what would be the problem, but can you tell us what is the error you get? Also, what error do you get (if any) if you try to run backup from client side for second instance?

Hi Thanks for the response,
I did open a SR with the support but Im not sure where to locate this file:
2) Put local node name "nodeinst2" into In DB2_INST.CFG file's DB2_NODE_NAME.
DB2_NODE_NAME=nodeinst2
I've done the catalog of the second instance, but I dont know where to find the DB2_INST.CFG file on the server ?
must I create the file, if so where must i create it ?
If the file is on the server where is it located ?
The second instance backup works from the command from the client side but fails from the NetWorker server application.
The error from the NetWorker server reports:
Unable to backup database due to backup request failure, SQLCODE : -1013, SQL1013N The database alias name or database name could not be found.

Hi,
This file is on the db2 machine. Your best bet is to consult the Adminstration Guide for your NMDB2 version:
NMDB2 Version 2.1 Admin Guide is here
I posted a link to the Version 4.0 Admin Guide in my last message.
Look at the section: Configuring the NMDB2 software. - page 17 of the 2.1 Guide gives details of the configuration file you are looking for.
