backup not running on windows client

Question

When I run a save command on a win 2k SP4 client, I get the following messages C:\Documents and Settings\Bernoulli>save -v -b 'SMH Default' c:	emp save: Using legpap01.smh.com as server save: got prototype for / save: got prototype for / save: got prototype for / save: got prototype for / save: got prototype for / save: got prototype for / save: got prototype for C:\ save: got prototype for D:\ It sits there until I cancel it. I do not see any messages on the NetWorker server about the save. I can do DNS lookup both ways successfully and networker detected that I installed the client. I am running 7.3 Jumbo Patch Build 9. What other debug options can be used to determine why the backup is not running?

a) do you see anything in daemon.log on backup server (like pending message for tape load)
b) is legpap01 correctly identified as backup server

If none above yields result, try something like:
save -D9 -s legpap01 -b"SMH Default" c:\temp

(under assumption legpap01 is correct name of backup server)

Strange indeed. It looks like it hangs waiting to get some response for OS while checking the system. What NW version you have on server and client? Also did you try to restart application or even the client machine?

We have just installed 7.3 Jumbo Patch Build 9, but it had stopped working before that. We have been on 7.3 for about a month. I have stopped the services on both the client and the server, but have not gone as far as a reboot.

Just for a test, on mentioned client, try to put 7.2.2 instead of 7.3 and see if it works. Also, make sure that you have correct Windows version. There are several Windows versions around depending what your CPU is on that host. I have seen hangs like that in such cases.
