Backup runs after groups are stopped
Hello,
Maybe somebody of you had the same problem...
I found that sometimes backup do not stop to run after I press stop on group.
It shows that group is stopped but it still writes to tape and only then it backups everything what it had to backup it stops.
Today I got even more intereting situation:
On friday we have weekly backup (the same every friday), on saturday monthly backup (last weekend of the month) and on sunday daily backup (from sunday to thursday daily backup starts every evening)
So on friday weekly backup started and due to not enough tapes it stopped with request to insert empty weekly tape. On saturday monthly backup started also, it was enough tapes for monthly backup to run but it was waiting for something... (maybe till weekly backup will finish). On Sunday daily backup started also and the situation was the same as with monthly backup. On monday I stopped all groups but I still had request to insert weekly tape to start weekly backup. On tuesday I saw that daily backup do not run, then I stopped networker services and restarted it. connected to nmc and found that it takes monthly tape and start to run monthly backup, but all groups were stopped
I saw such events when I stop group using NMC and backup still runs on older versions e.g. 7.3. and 7.3.1
My version is software is: NetWorker 7.3.2.Build.364 Network Edition
Im not sure that jumbo realease will solve this problem Maybe you know something more about this?
btw. I started netstat and got that huge amount of ports from 1000 to 30000 are used by networker when I stopped nsrd, ports were not realeased, after I stopped nsrexecd all ports were realeased. maybe it took all ports and had no free ports to start monthly backup and after that daily backup? why it started to run monthly backup after networker services were restarted....
Local clients 18. All windows based (2000 and 2003)
Remote clients with storage nodes 12. (windows 2000 and 2003)

I have seen issues in networker 7.2.1, it will show session in console even after killing all savegrps.but it will not write to tape and it disappered after killing save.exe on client side.

No backup groups were running. Imagine you starting nsrexecd, after that nsrd and gstd. Connect to NMC and see that it mounts tape and starts to write
No groups were active because all scheduled backup starts at ~23:00.
