Backup the same ORACLE Client on 2 separate Networker Backup Servers

We have installed the Networker NMO (nmo45_linux_x86_64.tar.gz) Version 4.5 on Client Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.1 x86_64
And the NetWorker Oracle on Linux/1 Licences on two separate Networker Backup Servers.

Our Networker backup servers are version 7.4 running on Windows.

We have correctly installed the Oracle Agent Licences and configured the Oracle environment variables, on the Client Linux server, and set up required groups and added oracle user as administrator on the host Networker backup servers.

At present we have the Client Oracle Agent backups working as they should on the first of our Networker Production backup servers.

We can also backup the Linux filesystem succcessfully on both backup servers, all firewall and port settings are OK.

¿ What we want to do is backup the same Oracle Client instance on 2 separate Networker Backup Production Servers simultaneously (at least backup the same Oracle instance at different times on 2 backup servers) is it possible to do this?

¿ We have set up the second Networker Backup Production Server instance exactly the same way as the first working instance, and have created a separate backup script to point to the 1st and 2nd instance backup servers, with entries in the /nsr/res/servers file for both backup servers.

¿ The working (Networker Backup Server 1) NMO Client instance gets correctly assigned with the Oracle Agent Networker version LNMs_2007.Build.135 Licence and backs up Oracle OK

¿ But when we execute the 2nd (Networker Backup Server 2) NMO Client instance it is assigned with the Networker Client Licence.

And not the Oracle Agent Networker version LNMs_2007.Build.135 Licence, so does not backup Oracle.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in resolving this problem.

I have a feeling backing up Oracle to two different instances of Networker may present problems with keeping track of the data unless you do full backups each time. However, I wouldn't expect it to have licensing problems if you have licenses on both servers.
If you want a second copy of your data have you thought of perhaps doing cloning instead - it would halve the load Networker places on the Oracle server...?

It's possible, but ask yourself how do you handle archive logs this way. Do you use catalog database?

¿ But when we execute the 2nd (Networker Backup
Server 2) NMO Client instance it is assigned with the
Networker Client Licence.

OK, so you suspect license issue, but we would rather like to see what error do you get (if any) on client. Run that rman scipt manually from client and let us know what output do you get.

Thank you David and Hrvoje for your replies.

Yes David we have initiated FULL backups, at present going off to tape this will change soon when we move our backup environs to a DeDupe solution. We are as I pointed out looking to backup the same Oracle instance at different times on 2 backup servers.

*We suspected there may be a Licence issue? as Hrvoje pointed out I should have said that we got a permissions error when executing the RMAN script for the failing backups?

Yes Hrvoje we Catalog the Oracle database, our problem was very simply not a Licence issue, but an Administrator error in that we did not make the NSRNMO entry in the Client Set up for the failing backup Client.

With the NSRNMO entry made we now have Oracle Agent backups running successfully on both clients.

Again Thank You
