Thanks for the support as always Siobhan.

We in the NetWorker world certainly understand this ask as there are a number of different and valuable options provided by other storage vendors aside from EMC. We of course are interested in building our own footprint but understand well that not everyone uses EMC storage.

We are in continuous talks, product management and engineering, about how we can best address support for other vendors via the SMI-S interfacess. v1.4 will most certainly help us along this road. I will most definately update you and the community on progress we make, slow as it may seem, around this effort.

Again, thank you for your continued support.

Steve,

thanks for the response.

Legato, then EMC, have had many years so far to resolve the issue around EVA/XP, although obviously the VLS is a new one.

HP is the No.2 Storage vendor in the world, by not supporting it you are only hurting yourselves and providing opportunity for your competition to undermine your value proposition.

Obviously Data Protector supports the devices, but so does Symantec and Commvault, to name a few.

We need to see a road map for when you intend to deliver this. If you need help with HP, I stand willing to try and assist you.

I agree with Siobhan, only about 20 percent of our customers who own and utilise NetWorker have EMC hardware.

This leaves us vulnerable for customers to make the switch to competing backup solutions.

Other vendors are hitting our customers hard, it is difficult to keep them at bay.

Replication manager is a great product, this should be integrated into NetWorker and modified to support other vendors hardware.

Regards

Richard
