Pool Index based on group and savesets(bootstrap, index).
Pool for backup off data based on client name and group.

How do you direct backups to specified pool ? Via pool configuration or via backup command on client definition ?

What is this configuration ? Based on client name, save set or group (or all) ? If this is based on group add this group to INDEX pool configuration.

For disaster recovery and this will also include all you drives and the bootstrap. I would recommend the save set "ALL" in your backup server client.

Hmmm. That's strange. Could you please provide those outputs from nsradmin:
nsradmin -s NWSERVERNAME
nsradmin> option hidden
nsradmin> . type:nsr client;name:client_x_name;group:test
nsradmin> print
nsradmin> . type:nsr pool;name:INDEX
nsradmin> print
nsradmin> . type:nsr pool;name:BackupPool
nsradmin> print
nsradmin> . type:nsr group;name:test
nsradmin> print

This should go to INDEX pool but as I understand it wasn't. Could you please tell me which configuration you implement to make backups of index and bootstrap works ?

1. delete client x from resources of BackupPool pool (leave only group test) - then perform backup

OR

2. delete client x and group from resources of BackupPool pool. On the client x (instance attached to group test) definition put: save -b BackupPool in the "backup command" resource - then perform backup
