Can NW 8.1.1 VBA backup VMware vCAC?

Can NW 8.1.1 VBA backup VMware vCAC? The vCAC appliances/servers refuse to be added to any NW protection policies.
We're using VMware vSphere 5.1 U2 and vCAC 6.0.1 to manage our virtual environment and we're trialing VBA for hypervisor-based backups. It's working really well except ...
When I select the vCAC appliances/servers to add them to a protection policy and click "finish," the result is comes back with the "some clients were not added" message. Consequently, the appliances/servers are not backed up.
This is a problem for us because we've put a huge amount of effort into getting our vCAC blueprints right. To be unable to restore them would be BAD (tm).
All the requirements seem to be met. We can take snapshots of these appliances/guests from the vSphere web client. What am I missing?

I have seen some roadmaps for NW versions recently and I have seen vCAC on it. I won't say in which SP as that all might be subject to change and it is NDA info, but fact that it is on roadmap says it is not in any current code. For more information, I would suggest to talk to your EMC contact or support representative.
