Cannot backup new client

Its been a while since I have added a new client to my NW server. I loaded NW 7.3.2 jumbo build 386 on a client (which is the same version as the server) and basically it started giving me quirky errors just trying to configure the client using the Wizard. I managed to get around that by modifying the RES files by adding the client hostname (which wasn't there...go figure).

Now, when I try to do a backup, it gives me this cryptic saveset message:

SYSTEM error: client `10.104.4.212' is not properly configured on the NetWorker Server
save: Cannot open save session with backup01

I also noticed it doesn't display the software version for the client in the Mgr Console like it does for others.
Also it says in the client properties, under the Info & Licensing tab, "Enabler in use: NO"

I have more than enough client licenses I think: 10 w/ the Network Edition + 5 Client Connections.

Put the name of the client in DNS or hosts and try again (and define it with name).

Putting the client in the hosts file on the backup server worked.

So the backups are running now. What I don't understand is why DNS did not work?

The only thing I can think of is that the server is running a website with the same IP in DNS, so both A records point to 10.104.4.212 which maybe is confusing the server.

if you have multiple IP address bound to the client server the IP address networker is trying to hit needs to be bound first.
