Client fails with RPC error

Got below error while backing up client.
* client:SYSTEM FILES:\ save: RPC error: Unknown host
* client:SYSTEM FILES:\ save: Cannot open save session with server.a.com
Both server and client are multihomed.Name resolution is ok at both ends and all aliases added to client resource.I am able to browse from client also savegrp prob succeeds. What could be the problem?

Hi,

Is the backup failing only for System Files? Or fails C:\ too?

Have you tryed launch it from NetWorker User for client?

Regards.

I would try restarting the service from the client.

RPC error aim to point at connectivity issue. Try restarting the service on the client.
Have you tried an adhoc backup from the client?

Perhaps name resolution is ok on both ends, but at the time of backup and if using 100MB/s link to DNS server you will see that it fails (timeouts) sometimes causing this sort of errors.

Hi ,

I think you should need to put the server IP address in the Server Network interface and also only the Full qualified domain name of the client in the alias field .Please also ensure that you have entered the correct client Domain Name in the server's /etc/host file and also server domain name in the client /etc/hosts file .

Hey this error is caused due to mismatch in the host files

Kindly check the nsr/logs/daemon.log on the cleint side.

You will get to know the exact issue. May be cleint in question has multiple ipadress one for Backup and one for application.
