Decommission a VBA

So, from the 8.2 docs:

NMC includes the option to decommission a VMware Backup Appliance when problems

occur. To decommission the appliance, right-click the appliance and select

Decommission from the drop-down.

But when I right click the VBA in NMC, this option does not exist.  So, how do i decommission the VBA?

This is something I also recognized, in NW 8.2.1.0 I was able to successful undeploy the EBR following the same instruction you are mentioning. Meanwhile we've upgraded to NW 8.2.1.6 and the Decommission field is not available any more. I don't know whether this is related to the NW release or something else.

As usual, the writers mix up the NMC with the NW Admin GUI ... which you can of course already identify by the icon in the window's upper left hand corner. But you are lucky, this is consistently the case throughout the books :-(

Well - I think this option has been removed from the code. The message from the NW 9 WMware Integration Guide is clearer. It states:

Decommissioning the VMware Backup Appliance in NMC

Decommissioning should be done only with the help of EMC Support.

Time to contact EMC ...

The following screen-shot from the "docu53918_NetWorker-8.2-SP1-and-later-VMware-Integration-Guide.pdf" document, still lists the EBR decommissioning:

There is also a related TN available, unfortunately I'm not able to access it ("Access denied").

It boggles the mind how poorly written this software is, going with this for our backups ranks up there with the worst decisions I've ever made.  Running 8.2.1.7 and I do not have the decommission option.  Guess I'll contact support and wait a couple of weeks for a response.

This has been removed due to undesired effects I guess.  At least, you can read between the lines that in https://support.emc.com/kb/204064.
