You are right, sorry, I forgot to mention that for Exchange 2010 you can only use NMM 2.3, NME only supports up to Exchange 2007.
There was an interim solution called nsr_exchange_2010.exe, and it's still supported, but definitely NMM 2.3 is the way to go for Exchange 2010.
For SQL yes, I would suggest you either to install NMM 2.3 and on top of it NMSQL, or just go directly for NMSQL, in my personal opinion is the best approach, to have only NMSQL, and when NMM 2.4 comes out then you can decide whether to go for it or not.
so basically yes, NMM 2.3 for Exchange 2010 and NMSQL for SQL 2008
The NetWorker Module for Microsoft Applications release 2.3 (NMM) uses Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) technology to provide backup and recovery services for:
- File systems
- Application data for the following Microsoft applications:
•SQL
• Data Protection Manager
•Hyper-V
• Active Directory
•SharePoint
• Exchange
- Operating system data
EMC has consolidate the NME and NMSQL into a new module that is able to backup all Microsoft applications like ( Exchange, Sharepoint,SQL, Hyper-V, AD,.... ) , it replaced the NME and NMSQL in which there is no development now in those NME and NMSQL, they are still supported but in the near future they will be out of support , so i recommend you to use the NMM with its latest version 2.3 for your Microsoft applications backups.
I am newcomer to EMC Networker. I found few modules for exchange, sql and sharepoint. At same time I see Networker module for microsoft applications. The doucmentdidnt help me much. Is it that Networker has stopped releasing individual modules for microsoft applications and started releasing bundle for microsoft applications like SQL, Exchange and sharepoint
Just a few considerations before you make your choice:
The treand is to unify all modules for Microsoft Applications and DB's in a single one, which is NMM, however please note some limitations:
1.- NMM vs. NMSQL
NMM uses VSS, and because of that is not supported incremental backups not TLog backups, so NMM 2.3 will NEVER truncate the logs. This is very important point.
NMSQL allows you to do full and incremental backups, and also file level and TLog level backups, being able to truncate the logs after a backup.
My choice for SQL would be definitely NMSQL, however NMM 2.4 will include VDI interface, so will have the same functionality as NMSQL, in fact it will have the best of 2, VSS backups and incremental backups with log truncation.
2.- NMM vs. NME
Again, NMM uses only VSS to backup Exchange. For Exchange 2007 NME offers more granularity and more easy-to-use interface, and from my point of view is easier to make it work, as it has less requirements than NMM, anyway I think VSS backups are more reliable, the only issue I would say, is that it relies in VSS, so if VSS fails (it's pretty common if you don't have latest VSS hotfixes in place) then backup will fail.
Here NMM will indeed truncate the logs, so there is not difference in that.
NMM is the only module to bakcup MS DPM (Data Protection Manager from Microsoft), Hyper-V and SharePoint.
For SharePoint environments remember the limitations for SQL, however you can have NMM and NMSQL installed on the same SQL server, both are compatible together and you can play around with the 2 of them to have full (VSS) and TLogs (NMSQL) backups.
For SharePoint you also need to check your SharePoint version and OS. If it's Windows 2008 R2 then you can only install NMM 2.3, but NMM 2.3 has the limitation that DO NOT support granular backups, so for that if you have SP 2007 and Windows 2008 or 2003, then I would suggest you to go for NMM 2.2 SP1, which will allow you to do and restore granular SharePoint backups.
Also note that for NMM 2.3 there is a trhird party software (PowerControll Kroll On Track), which will veary easily allow you to restore any object within the SharePoint farm once you restore SQL Content DB with NMM, and then with Kroll on Track you just "navigate" inside the DB browsing objects, and it till restore the object for you.
I think this will help you to understand the differences.
We have exchange 2010 and sql server 2008. I have planned to install NMM 2.3 for exchange 2010 as I have not see NME for exchange 2010 and NMSQL for SQL server 2008.Is this Ok. And at later point of time can I install NMM 2.4 for SQL server 2008.
We are able to perform a Full Backup but while performing an Incremental Backup it is getting failed.
Please find the below update from Carlos,

Hi Vargispa,
Please check the following Powerlink KB article that clarify the differences between the NMM module and NME and NMSQL:

This artcile collects most of the differences and i am sure it will be very helpful for you.

Hi,
My environment has SQL 2008 R2.
NW Version is 9.0.1.4. Build 669
NMM installed is 9.0.1
We are able to perform a Full Backup but while performing an Incremental Backup it is getting failed.
Please find the below update from Carlos,
