Does group interval time not work for a snapshot group?

I have recently implemented backup for a SharePoint distributed farm. I have configured the NMM/VSS based backups for the web front ends and app servers, and this works as such. The SQL DB is in a separate groups since we'd like to use the VDI method for SQL.

Ideally, I would like a backup once every four hours, and for the SQL DB group this works fine when I set the interval to 4 hours. I left "Force incremental" checked and just as expected, I get a transaction log (ie incr) backup every four hours apart from a full once per 24 hours.

However, when setting a 4 hour interval on the SharePoint VSS group, I still only get only a full backup once per 24 hours. I'm fine with every backup being a full, so I unchecked "Force incremental". Still no go.

What am I missing here? I set the start time to 03.00 for both groups, to keep all items in sync. Does a snapshot group not allow for an interval shorter than the default? I looked in the admin guide, couldn't find anything about this.

NetWorker 8.1.1.4 on Windows Server 2008R2.

No, I don't think the actual SP part outside the backing SQL DB has transaction logs, so that's why I unchecked "Force incremental". The SP solution here hasn't been rolled into full production yet, so even a full backup is a quick and painless affair at the moment. I expect the SQL DB will be the major part of the backup anyway.

Perhaps NetWorker doesn't allow me to be too clever, it sees this is a vss backup and since "Force incremental" is default it won't me run more than a full backup per day.

I could always use a scheduled task, but I'd like to minimize those.

I do not have experience with SP, but does SP have transaction logs as SQL does?  If so, backup of those would be outside snapshot group while snapshot would be used for DB which would be full normally and snapshot mgt itself would be controlled via snapshot policy.  I do use snapshots for Oracle and SAP and that is at least my experience with them, but of course it might be different with SP.
