If a server is disabled it 'only' means that you cannot run new backups. Data can still be recovered and you must be able to administer your data zone. So the GUI must still be working.

However, from the CLI you still have nsradmin, for example:

    C:\nsradmin -s

    NetWorker administration program.

Use the "help" command for help, "visual" for full-screen mode.

    nsradmin> . type: nsr license

    Current query set

    nsradmin> show host id

    nsradmin> p

                        host id: ;

    .....

    nsradmin> q

    C:\>

    42503:nsradmin: Program not registered

There does not appear to be a NetWorker server running on EMC.local

    Hi,

Check whether NetWorker is running. E.g. on Linux: ps -ef|grep nsr

Run nsradmin direct on the NetWorker server, without the -s option to avoid firewall or name resolution problems.

    Regards

    Michael

In this case it is obvious that the NW server is not running. Please start nsrd appropriately:

    Windows                 net start nsrd

    Unix/Linux               /etc/init.d/networker start

See the Installation Guide for details.

A bit more info like so unimportant issues as OS & NW version would not be wrong.

So we talk about Windows, correct?

Then you do not have the proper rights and/or the previous rights have been affected.

The easiest way to overcome this is to do a remove/re-install to the same path.

Make sure that the install user is a member of a local admin group.

You will not lose anything as long as you do not touch the NW directories.
