Exchange Cluster Fail Backup

i have inserted the nsrxchsv -c (virtual_hn). it gave me the following error when initiated the virtual machine in the backup: no such file or directory.

module version: 4.1.0.Build:148.
should i move to version nmexch50_win_x86.exe

if i save the IS for the virtual machine, what should the savesets of the 2 physical nodes?

If Exchange is to be backed up from the virtual node, you need not worry about the parameters for the physical nodes.

4.1 Build 533 or 5.0 should allways be better than what you are currently using.

Ideally, you should have Networker Client & Exchange modules installed on both the physical nodes. Create a client resoruce for both physical nodes & the virtual node. In the remote access of the virtual node, you should enter system@physical;node1 & system@physicalnode2 & then set backup command nsrxchsv -c VN & Save Set as MSEXCH:IS.

You should initiate the backup for the virtual node only.

Difficult to guess why it says "No such file or directory" since I have seen this message mostly for backup device but it could be that one of the aboive steps has not been followed.

That usually indicates that either saveset or backup command is wrong. In your case it is backup command which is called nsrxchsv and not nsrxchsv.

i tried all combinations of save sets and backup commnads, still having the following error:

i have inserted all what you asked for, my current backup command is: nsrxchsv -c VN. save sets on all 3 nodes is tha same. G:\backup 15-11-2006\exchange backup.bkf
G:\ is an advanced file type.
any suggestions

I'm afraid I don't understand how is advanced file type related to Exchange backup parameters in this case. You will either have to post full configuration or talk to your support - it looks as configuration issue.

For Exchange backups, the save set should be MSEXCH: types. The device path should be there under devices not under save sets.

If G:\... is what you want to backup, then this if File System backup and you should not have a backup command for this - not nsrxchsv.exe atleast.

my new error is:

i initiated the virtual node with a saveset: G\Backup 11-15-2006 and no backup commnad.
the directory Backup 11-15-2006 is an advanced file type inside an advanced file type(G:\). could this be a problem.
for the license issue: there is 4 NT CLUSTER CLIENT. and we have 2 clusters each of 2 nodes. so the license should be ok.

Save set is what you want to backup. Definitely you don't backup your backup device on itself.

Backup command is reqd. only if you are backing up application save sets like Exch. or SQL etc.

This is a cluster license error. If it is a two node error, then you need two cluster client licenses.

iam backing up the G:\Backup 11-15-2006 which is the device in a device to tape library.
for the cluster license, we have 4 cluster license. we used 2 license for one cluster having 2 nodes. and the other two should work for the other cluster - exchange - that contains 2 phyisical nodes. so, why is giving me a cluster license error

well, my configuration is the following:
i have an exchange cluster with 2 nodes and a virtual machine.
i installed both Nwer client and Nwer exchange module on all 3 machines.
i know that if i have to backup the saveset MSEXCH: i have to insert the backup up command nsrxchv -c VN_name. and if iam backing up a certain directory, i dont need the backup command.
also, the VN should only be inititiated but all 3 should be created as clients in Nwer console.
so, should i have to put the backup commands in the 2 nodes too.
i have created a "rd=node_1\\.\F:\" for my backup. this device is can be accessed from VN and from node_1 only, but not from node_2 cz its the passive.
is there still any missing configuration

I'm afraid I miss to understand you again; "device in a device to tape library"? I assume you are saying that is NetWorker file device which you should stage I guess then... You seem to have a wrong configuration as I said - best way to speed it up towards solution is to talk to your support and send them logs and resource files.

I agree with what dk said. Additionally, create one more client instance for virtual node for file system backup if there is anything you wish to save other than data handled by module. F drive which seems to be virtual one according to what you have said should be saved only via cluster client and not physical one.
