Exchange Server got hanged after uninstalling networker client and NMM 9.0.1

Hi Team,

I had a one exchange server named as MAIL01 which was backed up successfully for both Filesystem and Database in Standalone configuration. After some days my management decided to establish a DAG for high availability of exchange database. We created another server named as MAIL02 with same specifications as MAIL01. After that we created a DAG and established this DAG between MAIL01 and MAIL02.

DB backups for MAIL01 got failed after creating the DAG. We raised an SR#5298883 with EMC. On checking with EMC it is known that NMM supports only either Standalone or Federated backups for Exchange.

EMC support people suggest me to perform the below steps.

  1. uninstall the networker client, NMM on MAIL01.
  2. Reboot the server MAIL01.
  3. Re install the Networker client and NMM
  4. Reboot the server.

I performed the above steps. I don't no where it goes wrong suddenly after performing the STEP 4 the Exchange server got hanged and server become unresponsive.

Finally as a part of trouble shoot i again unsinstall the client and NMM. It takes 4 hrs to again bring the server back.

In order to take the backup for DAG  again i need to install the client and NMM. This time im very much afraid to do this.

Someone please help on this and suggest me where i done wrong.

Below is the backup configuration details of my environment.

Server O.S :- Windows 2012 R2

Application O.S:- Exchange server 2013

Netwoker Version:- 9.0.1

Netwoler Client Version:- 9.0.1

Networker Extended Client version:- 9.0.1

NMM version:- 9.0.1

As we do not have any further information I cannot explain what was your specific problem was.

In general, may I suggest that you use the proper sequence (remember that NMM ist just a NW extension):

  - Installation

       Install NW Client

       Install NW Extended Client

       Run NMM Config Checker

       Install NMM

  - Deinstallation

       Deinstall NMM

       Deinstall NW Client
