GFS Rotation

Are there predefined schedules in Networker for Grandfather-Father-Son? I thought I saw it somewhere, but now I can't find it again. Looking to quickly be configured, rather than having to do it myself.

Default (out-of-box) schedules might now give you what you want, but GFS is there. Check schedules and you will see default or full every Friday schedules to have son and father roles while son and grandfather would be full on 1st of the month or full on 1st Friday of the month. Ideally you will have 2 schedules; one for son and father skipping grandfather date and second one skipping son and father dates and running only on skipped date previously.

Usually you set your schedules to be related to retention and that's where what I have said above makes sense.

Thanks. I will make my own then. I thought I had read somewhere about GFS being built in, but I couldn't find it again. I can just make my own schedules though.

Hi,

we are using this for a customer of us and have created the following schedules:

Grandfather:
skip skip skip skip skip skip skip
override: full 1st friday every month
Father:
skip skip skip skip skip full skip
override: skip 1st friday every month
Son:
incr incr incr incr incr skip incr

We can use incremental since we have a library with sufficient slots, if you can't have all online but change tapes daily, change incr to full.
goodluck,

Xander
