Ghost VM's in vSphere Web Client

Hi all. I have a situation with 'ghost' vm's.  When we decommission a VM, and delete from disk, that server is now completely gone from the VMware environment. But, when my VM backups run for the night, I will still see those same VM's attempting to back up, and of course, the backup fails since it is no longer there to back up. They seem to remain visible to the backup application for up to a week after the VM is gone. When i go into the vSphere web client, and click on 'sources', which shows you the VM's selected for backup under that policy, those VM's still show up there. But, when I try to edit the policy inside of the vSphere client, those VM's do not show in the list so that I can uncheck them. Im sure others have seen this behavior before, but have any of you found a way to force the ghost VM's to clear from the backup environment? Thank all. Todd

Not sure if  you have selected the VM's individually into the policies ? you should select them at the folder level. If you want to select them manually then i suggest you edit the policy from the vSphere client and remove it.
