2) Clone the SSID's from source Diskbackup to another DiskBackup device.
Easy again. You nsrclone command against ssids obtained from first step.
3) Finally set a different retention and browse time to the cloned copies.
You will need 7.3 for that.
You will note that I do not list full solution for you - this is because your sort of question is not technical question but rather consulting one (which usually everyone tends to charge). Step 3 is possible with 7.3 only (without any additional tricks).
1. Use mminfo with whatever selection criteria to get the ssid's you require 2. Use nsrclone to clone the ssid's 3. Use mminfo to get the corresponding cloneid to match the ssid's 4. Use nsrmm -S -e -w to change browse and retetion for the cloned savesets
You cannot use nsrmm to read in a list of ssids from a file so you would need the script to write a line to another batch file for ssid/cloneid pair to be modified
I tried the nsrmm but it also changes the browse and reten on the original when I apply it to the clone id. If I delete the original save set the clone gets erased too. I don't really want to use 7.3 just yet until it is stable.
The ssid is the same for both the original and clones. So if you modify the browse and retention for the, you'll end up doing the same for the clone. If this was on a physical tape volume then you can just relabel the original volume, once the clone has completed successfully, and the retention of the original is up. As for a file device, you can't. The only way that NW will purge the ssid from the file device is if the ssid is not in the media database. Unfortunately it will purge the clone file device too if that happens.

This one is easy - choose mminfo as your weapon.

# 3 - needs to be done from the command line with a "-y" switch on nsrclone.
